Just don’t know what to say. I’m in awe. The only discordant part was when you revealed for whom you voted. After all that you didn’t vote for him? Sure you say it didn’t matter in Texas, but why not?
Thanks very much! As far as my vote, I did so for a few reasons. I think I'm pretty clear-eyed about Trump and his appeal, but I also don't feel the strong pull of being on the "team." (That said, I'm a sucker for real unity, and loved the Tulsi/RFK partnership, and believed he should win for sure after the assassination attempt.)
I also believe it works to my advantage as a critic of the press to not have that talking point that I'm a Trump voter. Obviously it's a surface critique anyway, since it isn't relevant to my own biases, but it's a fact that could be used against me also. Decades from now, I will always be able to say I never voted for Trump, and I think the benefits to that outweigh the costs.
That said, I obviously feel differently about JD Vance, who I'm a huge fan of, so I would imagine I'll be making a different calculus in 2028 (and I can, potentially, always say I was a 3-time JD Vance voter!).
Last thing - as the EP of The Megyn Kelly Show, I'd like to think I did have a part in creating many more Trump voters than just myself, through honest and uncompromising news coverage and analysis that we delivered each day.
This was a great read, but for the liberals, and the literati. They should see this and see why they are so out of touch. But being self serving they would would rather just call you a bigot.
Steve as always the article was good and as another commenter stated…insightful. I have always enjoyed your POV and it is why I’m still a subscriber…I just hate the wait. (That has a ring to it…I hate the wait)
God wasn't going to let Trump lose this time, he had to let it happen in 2020 so he could get all of the info on what the Dems were doing so he could stop them. The Red Sea moment is still coming, to help God clean the EVIL put of this world.
Republicans are better at politics than Democrats…it’s that simple. Democrats lost in August 2021 when Trump’s surrender to the Taliban angered Americans, the Republican governor induced Delta death surge made it seem the vaccines failed, unprecedented weather events in Texas and Louisiana raised energy prices, and global inflation undermined supply chains because of China’s suboptimal vaccines. The right wing echo chamber developed effective talking points blaming all of the developments on Biden and tattooed them onto the brains of Republicans. And so by October 2024 Americans still believed gasoline was expensive even though it was cheaper than 2019.
Great to have you back. And I'd like to say that you and Megyn are doing a fantastic service for the country!
